Casual Friday Jeans Donations

Every Friday, the staff at Great Erie FCU can wear jeans with our Great Erie attire for a donation to the local communities. We contribute to the community with the money raised during the "Casual Friday" day here at Great Erie.

For August, we supported the Alzheimer's Association of WNY Walk to End Alzheimer's, the largest event to raise awareness and funds for Alzheimer's care, support, and research. Great Erie donated $300 to "Team Sharon." Sharon Fenclau was a local resident and member of Great Erie who lost her battle with Alzheimer's disease in 2023. Daughter Robin, along with family, is working to raise awareness and funds for the Buffalo Walk on Saturday, Sept. 28th.

The Buffalo Walk takes place at the Outer Harbor, 825 Fuhrmann Blvd. 231 teams and approximately 890 participants are involved. The Alzheimer's Association® is the leading voluntary health organization in Alzheimer’s care, support, and research. Founded in 1980 by a group of family caregivers and individuals interested in research, the Association includes its home office in Chicago, a public policy office in Washington, D.C., and a presence in communities across the country.

Worldwide, more than 55 million people are living with dementia. In the United States alone, more than 7 million have Alzheimer’s, and over 11 million are providing unpaid care. The Association addresses this crisis by providing education and support to the millions who face dementia every day while advancing critical research toward methods of treatment, prevention, and, ultimately, a cure.

The Great Erie Staff is thankful we can make a small donation to help the community and local organizations ... it's the credit union philosophy ... "people helping people."
