Join Our Team! Volunteer for the Supervisory Committee
Have you ever wondered how a credit union works, or have you been curious about what it means to volunteer on one of the Board of Directors committees? If you answered “yes!” and are a credit union member, consider applying to become a Supervisory Committee member. You can serve your community by your willingness to learn and ask questions.

Great Erie FCU is seeking a dedicated volunteer to join our Supervisory Committee, which is a crucial part of our governance. The Board of Directors will appoint the volunteer.

About the Supervisory Committee

Key responsibilities include:

  • Annual Financial Audit: Overseeing the annual financial audit.
  • Member Account Verification: Verifying member accounts.
  • Internal Controls: Ensuring adequate internal controls to protect members' assets.

Meeting Time Expectations

  • Meet 10-11 times per calendar year
  • Each meeting is expected to last between 45-90 minutes (w/February or March being the longer meeting)
  • During the meetings, we review the audit results and other documents as presented by the internal auditor
  • One Committee member is tasked with taking the minutes
  • One Committee member is asked to come for the surprise cash counts, etc., every month (those take approx. 15-20 minutes) and is expected to take place before 9:00 am
  • Based on availability you might be asked to participate in the board meeting from time to time

Requirements

  • We expect you to sign the confidentiality and privacy agreements and abide by them
  • We encourage asking as many questions as possible
  • There is training that is required to be completed by all volunteers, including the Supervisory Committee-specific courses
